Babies & Dogs
A new little person can set off behavior problems with your dog. Some dogs might feel that the little creature is an intrusion into his pack. Others, upon seeing the baby’s movements and hearing it’s cries, may see the baby as prey. A maternal dog might want to pick up the flailing crying baby to take it to safety, unintentionally hurting it in the process. Learning how to introduce the baby to the dog is not enough. Pro-actively evaluating how your dog will react when a new baby comes home and preparing your dog for every change he will have to make is the most valuable way to insure that you will not have problems. Our use of the ARNOFF MODEL for anticipating, diagnosing and treating behavior problems will give you the most comprehensive understanding of what may happen and the best opportunity for success.
